In a village nestled between the lush forests and sparkling rivers, Anansi the Spider had six remarkable sons, each blessed with a unique talent.

  1. See Trouble: He had an uncanny ability to foresee danger.
  2. Road Builder: With unmatched skill, he could create paths anywhere.
  3. River Drinker: He could consume vast amounts of water in a single gulp.
  4. Game Skinner: No one could skin an animal as quickly and neatly as him.
  5. Stone Thrower: He could hurl stones with incredible precision and strength.
  6. Cushion: He was soft and pillowy, able to cushion any fall.

One day, Anansi ventured deep into the forest and got caught by a dangerous fish that threatened to eat him. At that very moment, his first son, See Trouble, sensed his father’s distress and informed his brothers.

The second son, Road Builder, quickly made a path leading to the location of their trapped father. As they neared a river blocking their way, River Drinker drank up the entire river, allowing them to pass. Once they reached the fish, Game Skinner skilfully peeled the fish away, freeing Anansi.

However, as they were making their way back, a bird of prey saw Anansi and decided he would make a tasty meal. It swooped down and carried Anansi away. Seeing this, Stone Thrower took aim and hit the bird, making it release Anansi. As Anansi plummeted down, Cushion jumped below him, ensuring Anansi had a soft landing.

Although Anansi was saved, he faced a dilemma. He had only one treasured item at home, the “Sky God’s Globe of Light”, and he wanted to give it to the son who had helped him the most. But which one? Each had played a crucial role.

Unable to decide, Anansi gave the globe to Nyame, the Sky God. The Sky God, impressed by the sons’ teamwork, decided to place the globe up in the sky so that everyone could benefit from its light, and it became the moon.

The radiant moonlight served as a constant reminder of the combined strength and unity of Anansi’s sons.

Moral: Every individual has a unique strength, but when combined, they can overcome any challenge. Teamwork makes the dream work.
